Infinity 484 for “The Village Chapel” at Bald Head Island, NC.

Rodgers and R.A. Daffer Church Organs, Inc. are pleased to share with you the recent Rodgers/Ruffatti organ installed at “The Village Chapel” at Bald Head Island, North Carolina.

Bald Head Island is a two-mile journey across the Cape Fear River from South Port, North Carolina, and is the site of “Old Baldy,” the state’s oldest standing lighthouse, circa 1817.  Its next door neighbor, “The Village Chapel” is celebrating their 30th anniversary of serving as “A House of Prayer for All People.“ On Sunday mornings, residents, guests and visitors of all denominations join in an inter-denominational service of worship, based on the Judeo-Christian tradition.

The new instrument is a custom-designed 4 Manual 84 stop Rodgers Infinity organ with a pipe division hand-crafted by Fratelli Ruffatti Pipe Organ Builders of Padua, Italy. The exquisite mahogany case was made in the Daffer pipe organ shop in Jessup, Maryland.

The organ dedication recital was performed by internationally renowned concert organist Felix Hell to a standing room only audience. The size of the specification, the richness of the sound and the acoustics of the chapel were perfect for his spectacular closing work, Franz Liszt’s “Fantasie and Fugue on Ad Nos, Ad Salutarem Undam.”

R.A. Daffer Church Organs, Inc. was founded by the company president Robert A. Daffer. Bob has over 50 years’ experience in the church organ business. He and many of his staff are accomplished church organists.  On weekends when Bob is on Bald Head Island, he is at the organ console to play for worship services.
