Inc. Magazine Features Rodgers Cathedral Organ
November 7, 2008
A three-manual Rodgers cathedral organ that "looks and sounds like a classic pipe organ" is spotlighted in Inc. Magazine's "Behind the Scenes" feature this month.
Inc., one of the nation's leading business magazines, chooses a location each month for its two-page photo spread illustrating how enterprising companies have developed products that become part of "the heart of everyday life." The November 2008 issue devotes the feature to the stunning sanctuary of St. Patrick's Co-Cathedral in Billings, Montana, where Heritage Church Organs installed the organ and custom-built its parquet rolling platform.
The article touches briefly on Rodgers' founding in 1958 by two entrepreneurial engineers, Rodgers Jenkins and Fred Tinker, and its status today as a multi-million dollar company with a full product line.
Also featured are the builder of the cathedral's walnut and red oak altar, a company that restored its century-old stained glass windows, and its supplier of candles, vestments, and other liturgical items.
St. Patrick's Co-Cathedral, the mother church for the Yellowstone River valley, serves a congregation of about 600 families. Its history dates back to 1904, only a few decades after the town of Billings was established. An online tour of the sanctuary, including a picture of the organ, can be found here.
Rodgers Instruments is the world's largest builder of stereo imaged church organs and pipe/digital organs. Rodgers is a member of the Roland Group, headed by Roland Corporation, a world leader in electronic musical instrument technologies and electronic musical instrument sales and manufacturing.
