Rodgers Plays for Cedar Falls Bible Conference

July 16, 2010

The attractions that bring 10,000 people to the Cedar Falls Bible Conference each July are many: Beautiful surroundings in a historic prayer meeting location. A relaxed summer atmosphere, with tents, kids and picnic tables. Inspirational speakers, prayer and Bible study, and a chance to sing with thousands of fellow worshipers.

This year, they'll be singing with the help of a Rodgers organ, installed for the annual conference by Dewey Kruger Music Center of Northwood, Iowa. The Masterpiece 838 organ will be played during daily worship as visitors gather to hear some of the country's best preachers and teachers during the conference, July 24-Aug. 1. The conference organist is Philip Pfaltzgraff.

The Cedar Falls Bible Conference got its start in the early 1920s when local churches and business leaders organized an eight-day revival for the purpose of enriching the community's spiritual health. Orator G. Campbell Morgan of London preached to a crowd of several thousand in the city's Riverview Park each day.

The organizers didn't charge admission, yet they received enough free-will donations to continue the conference the following year. Funding operations by faith quickly became tradition; the Cedar Falls Bible Conference continues to this day with its operating budget provided solely by the donations of those who support it.

This year's speakers include:
• Prof. Jerram Barrs, Francis Schaeffer Institute, St. Louis, Mo.
• Dr. Michael Milton, Reformed Theological Seminary, Charlotte, N.C.
• Dr. Everett Piper, Oklahoma Wesleyan University, Bartlesville, Okla.
• Dr. Haddon Robinson, Gordon Conwell Seminary, South Hamilton, Mass.
• Rev. Ron Susek, Susek Evangelistic Association, Gettysburg, Pa.
• Dr. Stanley Toussaint, Dallas Theological Seminary, Dallas, Texas
