Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church - Elmore
The previous pipe organ at Grace Lutheran Church in Elmore, Ohio was a continued source of frustration for organist Dan Boyle. Many of the organ console’s stops and keys did not function properly and the pipes ranks were in serious need of repair. Additionally, the organ’s small specification severely limited Dan’s musical creativity. The maintenance bills were also frustrating to the church council.
Grace Lutheran had formed an organ committee more than ten years ago with the intent of replacing the organ, but other priorities moved the organ project to the back burner. The church was made aware that a new RODGERS three-manual organ that was utilized for a national music convention in nearby Detroit would soon be available at a very special price. Terry Brassell of T.S. Good Church Organ Company met again with the organ committee, and offered some innovative ideas for financing the project. A congregational vote was held with virtually unanimous approval of the organ purchase given by the church’s membership.
Removal of the old pipe organ and pipe chamber was accomplished by a group of church volunteers. The new three-manual RODGERS Allegiant digital organ features a lighted drawknob console equipped with rolling platform, a custom programmed MX-200 MIDI sound module, and a specially designed audio system that fills the sanctuary with glorious sound. The re-configured chancel area offers much more flexibility to accommodate guest musicians and organ recitals.
Pastor David Nevergall (who also plays the organ), organist Dan Boyle, and the entire Grace Lutheran congregation had their prayers answered with their new RODGERS organ. Dan acclaims: “We are truly blessed with such a magnificent instrument…I simply cannot believe there are no pipes playing!”
