As one of two cathedral churches in the Catholic Diocese of Pensacola–Tallahassee, the Co-Cathedral of St. Thomas More found that its older organ from another manufacturer became less and less reliable and was more and more costly to maintain. For a student-based ministry that is located directly across from Florida State University, these repairs stretched the limits of the budget. After realizing that Tadlock and Associates would work with the parish by extending financing over a workable timetable, Cathedral leaders knew that they could afford to have the quality sound of a Rodgers Organ sooner, rather than later.
After talking with Bob Hupka, the area manager for Tadlock and Associates, they were delighted to be able to have a new 2-manual Rodgers Allegiant organ with a 4-channel audio system and expanded MIDI capabilities installed and voiced in time for a major ordination Mass, the first in many years for the Cathedral. Bob worked with the organist the night before and the morning of the ordination to provide training and set registrations to the organ’s memory. Visiting priests and worshippers were thrilled to hear the new organ as it provided a rich, warm sound in the magnificent worship space. The other Cathedral church in the diocese, The Cathedral of The Sacred Heart in Pensacola, also has a Rodgers organ - a large 3-manual instrument with expanded MIDI capabilities.
