Rodgers on YouTube

Last night I was surfing around YouTube and came across several new videos by Randall Smith of West Point, Georgia. Randall is a wonderful organist with a terrific personality that comes through in his music. He plays a Rodgers custom 928 with 12 ranks of Hinners pipes. The arrangement of "To God Be The Glory" is from the Crystal Cathedral and begins with some of the organ's big reeds, while "Gabriel's Oboe" utilizes the resources of the MX-200 and the amazing Orchestral Oboe which is part of the organ's registration. This is a nice collection. Go to YouTube and search for "zimbelstern62" to find the videos.

MIDI

I don't know if anyone uses MIDI to play the organ but I need to do this on our model 525. I have not been able to get the organ to recognize MIDI volume control. The Owner's Manual appears to indicate that it should. MIDI Volume (control #7) has no effect. Control #11 which is for the expression pedal does effect the Swell manual only. All other functions seem to be working correctly.

MIDI

Hi Rich,

Each division is controlled independently by CC11. The Great must be controlled on CH12 and the Pedal on Channel 15. The Midi controller must be capable of sending all 3 channels simultaneously for an "All Swells" type control.

VOX HUMANA VARIANTS

How ccould I produce vox huMana sounds on i548 Rodgers model?

Vox

The closest color reed to a vox would be the Cromorne 8. This is Voice Palette 3 located behind the the Cornopean 8 in the swell division.

Rodgers Concert on Youtube

Douglas Marshal and David Ogletree play a concert on 2 Rodgers organs and the famous Walker organ in the Methuen Memorial Music Hall. This really shows off Rodgers organs well.
They each play pieces on the Rodgers organs, the Walker organ, and both Rodgers and Walker at the same time.

Click on the "see all" on the right hand pane of the window. Start watching the 11 videos from the bottom up to watch the entire concert. It is fantastic! This is the best showcase for the Rodgers organ I have
see on Youtube yet (other than perhaps the Wayne Marshal video).

PS the pipework is out of tune due to power failure that killed A/C in the building for about 8 hours.
