Six teen-agers have been awarded full scholarships by Rodgers Instruments to study organ at the International Music Camp (IMC) this summer.

The scholarship winners are Christiana Wolters, age 15, of Dickinson, ND; Madison Grove, age 14, and Christopher Laue, age 16, both of East Grand Forks, MN; Erin Kelso, age 15, of Henderson, MN; Ethan Evans, age 15, of Albany, GA; and Katrina Brooks, age 16, of Winnipeg, Manitoba.

IMC's Organ Week, which began in 2004, is a popular program that introduces young keyboard and piano players to the "King of Instruments." From July 6-12, the students will reside at the scenic camp on the U.S.-Canada border, following a daily schedule of private instruction, music history, music fundamentals and practice time. By the end of the week, organ instructor Peggy Bartunek says students are typically ready to give a recital for other students, and many are ready to return to their home churches and accompany congregational hymn singing on the organ.

"Organ Week accomplishes two goals at once: It shows students how to apply their existing keyboard skills to one of the world's greatest instruments, and it helps churches meet a growing need for someone who can play the organ," says Jennifer Brandlon, Manager of Marketing Services for Rodgers. As the world's leading builder of stereo-imaged digital organs and combination organs that blend digital sounds with winded pipes, Rodgers worked with the International Music Camp to create Organ Week as a way of helping to develop the next generation of organists.

Each summer, Rodgers supplies instruments and faculty as well as scholarships for Organ Week. The scholarship competition is open to school-age musicians worldwide.

The International Music Camp is located in the International Peace Garden on the border between North Dakota and Manitoba.
