Elm Grove Lutheran Church - Elm Grove
Wisconsin, USA

Elm Grove Lutheran Church's Casavant Organ was originally installed in 1970. However, after 40 years of constant use, the console was starting to have a number of problems. There were also serveral other age-related items that needed to be addressed, like Pedal division pipes that were bending under their own weight.
The original 44-rank stoplist (drawn up by Dr. Paul Bunjes) made use of all the available chamber space. Yet this stoplist did not include even ONE Celeste stop, leaving the organ lacking for some important and warm sounds.
Triune Music provided a solution that was very competitive with their other bids for just a new console alone (with no tonal additions). However, President Steve Smith felt that this project needed to include some of the "missing" stops, like a Voix Celeste in the Swell to work with the existing Salicional rank. It was also decided that the organ needed some digital stops in a floating division to accompany a Cantor or Celebrant down in the Chancel.
We worked tirelessly with Organist Rick Ewert until the specification was "right," giving him everything he needed both now and into the future. Our plans included a MIDI interface, recording capability, and even a 1,000+ voice sound module. This is a very complete and successful instrument due to collaboration between the church musician and the staff of Triune Music.
Each new generation adds its ‘mark’ to the accomplishments of past generations.
Elm Grove Lutheran Church has made a significant contribution to their ‘King of Instruments.’ They have taken an instrument with roots deep into the past and transformed it with eyes fixed on the future. The result is an instrument that allows TECHNOLOGY and ART to come together into a single design concept…a concept which combines the WONDER of electronics… with the MAGIC of windblown pipes.
