Rodgers Imagine 241 Brings New Musical Possibilities to Theresa Presbyterian Church
Comet Organ Company recently completed the installation of a Rodgers Imagine 241 at Theresa Presbyterian Church in Theresa, New York. The new instrument replaces the congregation’s aging pipe organ, which had become increasingly unreliable and offered limited tonal resources.
Music plays an important role in the life of the congregation, and organist Daniel Osborne, who has served the church for 13 years, initially contacted Comet Organ Company to explore options for addressing the existing instrument.
As both a pipe organ service company and builder and an authorized Rodgers dealer, Comet Organ Company was able to present the congregation with options for rebuilding and expanding the existing pipe organ or replacing it with a new Rodgers instrument.
Looking to the Future
After considering both approaches, the congregation selected the Rodgers Imagine 241 for its extensive tonal resources, flexibility, and convincing pipe-organ sound.
The church also looked ahead to the future needs of its music ministry. Features including Rodgers Hymn Player, Record & Playback, and wireless control through the Rodgers Play app provide additional flexibility for services, rehearsals, and other events.
The realities of Northern New York winters also factored into the decision. Unlike the church’s previous pipe organ, the Rodgers does not require the building to be brought to temperature well in advance of services and events, providing a practical advantage during the region’s colder months.
An Installation in New York's North Country
The church’s rural Northern New York location made the installation itself a little unusual. With the nearest hotels more than 30 minutes away, the Comet Organ Company installation team of Jason Comet, Leo Corvino, and Andrew McKeon rented a cottage on nearby Moon Lake, just minutes from the church.
The completed installation provides Theresa Presbyterian Church with an instrument designed to support its worship and music ministry today while offering the flexibility to adapt to the congregation’s needs for years to come.
